Being Cleopatra: Annick Massis

Annick Massis being Cleopatra in this trio, O bel lampo lusinghiero, from Cesare in Egitto (1821) by Giovanni Pacini (1796 – 1867).

This trio occurs about halfway through Act I, at the point where Cesare and Cleopatra first set eyers on each other and fall in love. Tolomeo, unaware of Cleopatra's return, is taken by surprise as he enters to speak to Cesare.

Cleopatra: Annick Massis
Giulio Cesare: Bruce Ford
Tolomeo: Kenneth Tarver
Orchestra: London Philharmonic Orchestra
Conductor: David Parry

Cleopatra's aria from Pacini's Cesare in Egitto will be featured on my debut CD, Cleopatra's Voice.
